About Us

 In 2012 we set up Elizabeth Cafe and Larder. It was bold, beautiful and a whole lot bigger than expected! Thankfully Tauranga city embraced our bustling enterprise and helped us to achieve great success. In 2016 we won the New Zealand Best Metro Cafe. We were also chosen to feature in a number of cafe publications and foodie magazines. Elizabeth opened doors, pushed boundaries and tested limits. It also allowed us to meet many wonderful and creative souls along the way.

 In 2014 we purchased our Texan style barbecue. To start with we used the barbecue at local events such as the gourmet night market. It was a huge hit and sometimes we would serve over 400 meals in a night. This more informal style of cooking, using natural elements and being able to converse easily with customers was something that appealed to us both. From this, our new venture was born.

​Barbacoa by Andrew Targett is Barbecue style catering. The word Barbacoa means cooking with smoke, wood and fire. When Spanish explorers landed on the Caribbean Islands in the 1400s they discovered this style of cooking. Since then it has been adapted by cultures throughout the world and from which the term Barbecue is derived. We have used our BBQ to cater weddings ( in far reaching and remote locations...), gourmet food markets and corporate functions. Barbecue is loved universally and is a style of cooking that is Andrews absolute favourite.

​We will be out and about at markets and festivals over the Summer of 2017/18. We are also looking forward to meeting new people as the wedding and function season gets underway!
